What information do we collect and what do we use it for?
Visitors to this website (www.pds.com.au)
When you visit this web site, our web hosting provider (NPS Internet Solutions)
makes a record of the visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes:
Your server IP address. For most visitors this will usually identify your internet service provider (ISP).
Your top level domain name (for example .com, .gov, .au, .uk etc).
The pages you requested and documents downloaded.
The status code returned by our web server.
If applicable, the site that referred you to our site (eg Google etc).
The type of browser you are using.
This information cannot be used by Penfold Data Solutions to identify you personally.
Penfold Data Solutions uses this information to monitor the level of traffic to our website,
to ensure that users do not experience problems (eg pages not found, browser incompatibilities),
and to monitor referrals from search engines and online advertisements.
Penfold Data Solutions will not make any attempt to identify users or their browsing
activities. However, in the unlikely event of an investigation, a law enforcement agency
or other government agency may exercise its legal authority to inspect our web hosting
provider’s logs.
Information provided by clients during the course of a project
The information that you need to provide to Penfold Data Solutions will
depend on the nature of the project. All information provided to Penfold Data Solutions
is treated as confidential and is kept secure. If you have particular requirements for
information management or disposal please discuss this with us before your project starts.
Medical information
Penfold Data Solutions frequently develops research databases that store medical
information. When such databases are being developed and tested, it is sometimes necessary
for us to work on versions of the database that contain medical information relating to
actual patients or research subjects. When this is the case, we will ensure that the
privacy of all patients and research subjects is respected at all times.
We do not retain any copies of medical information once a project
has been completed.
Sensitive information (racial origin, religious beliefs etc.)
Penfold Data solutions does not collect sensitive information relating to any
individuals.
Disclosure to third parties
Penfold Data Solutions will not disclose any information (including your
contact details) we receive from clients or prospective clients to third parties
without permission. In accordance with the Privacy Act, the only exceptions to this
policy are when there are reasonable grounds to believe that disclosure is necessary
to prevent a threat to life or health, or when Penfold Data Solutions is required to
provide information for law enforcement or regulatory purposes.
Penfold Data Solutions may occasionally need to contract out part of a project
to another organisation. When this is the case we will discuss the contractual arrangements
with clients beforehand. We will ensure that all contractors are bound by the provisions
of the Privacy Act and have appropriate policies in place to ensure the security and
confidentiality of any project information they handle.
Inspecting personal information and making corrections

before we disclose any personal information.
If you discover that some of the information we hold is incorrect then we will
